Four-column block-saw for marble Mod. Ortobreton 4EM

ORTOBRETON 4EM
Four-column block saw for marble

Rugged, efficient and precise
Machine featuring greater working dimensions for blades with maximum diameter of 1.700 mm.
Its rigid structure, strong construction and well-dimensioned beam limit the vibrations and assure the  optimal use of diamond blades.
The result is a more precise cut and a longer tool life.
Rapid and precise
The movement of both the spindle-holding carriage and the beam are in an oil bath, always precise, rapid and well protected. Once the beam has reached the correct position, it is blocked laterally on the bridges by means of a double oil-pressure device.
The two bridges move on sliding blocks with play adjustment along the guides, which are housed inside the columns, well protected by labyrinth seals. The spindle-holding carriage is moved horizontally by an electric motor controlled by an inverter.

The 550 mm ø  horizontal blade spindle is mounted vertically on one side of the carriage and it can be adjusted in height by a rack and pinion assembly powered  by a reducer with inverter-controlled A/C motor. The unit is equipped with a mechanism for the automatic compass movement of the blade.

The rectified  and dynamically balance spindle shaft guarantees an exceptional precise rotation.
Simple and safe
The Ortobreton 4EM can be equipped with an automatic strip unloader.

Ortobreton 4EM is simple and responsive to controls.
A user-friendly interface helps you to work better, proposing the most suitable cutting parameters and guaranteeing the continuous memorization of work data.

Warnings are shown on the monitor as well as the technical and statistical data on production and machine operation, which assist the operator in controlling and managing the work. Moreover, the monitor automatically signals the operator when preventive maintenance is required.

The machine is controlled by a PLC system.

Breton MIRAGE - Special high-removal head for granite levelling

Special high-removal head for granite levelling.
Each tool features an ideal (optimal) operating speed ensuring high removal and a longer service life.

The ideal speed of a diamond wheel on granite is approx. 30m/s.
Nobody has ever produced diamond satellite heads with a satellite rotation speed of 30m/s before. Breton developed MIRAGE, a head featuring a high tool rotation speed (30m/s equal to approx.  2.800rpm) and a low head rotation speed (about 250rpm).
Double tool service life with respect to a head with oscillating bricks.
- Double removal capacity with respect to a head with oscillating bricks.
- Outstanding capacity of leveling out the slab surface undulations thanks to the following combined effects:
  - High rotation speed of tools.
  - Low rotation speed of the head.
  - Large volume and high rigidity of the head.
  -
Head diameter of 510mm.

- Cost of tooling
1,5  times higher than a head with 8 diamond swinging bricks.

- Tool service life
2 times longer than a head with 8 diamond oscillating bricks.

Removal capacity
2 times higher than a head with 8 diamond oscillating bricks.

Tool cost per m2
62% lower than a head with 8 diamond oscillating bricks.

- Hourly output
2 heads Mirage increase the speed of a honing/polishing line by 10-15% while ensuring an excellent leveling quality.

Free maintenance for at least 4.000 hours.
- Replacement of gaskets, elastic components and oil every 4.000 hours.
- Bearings must be replaced every 25.000 hours.
- Gears last for the entire service life of the head.
Using a special kit, it can be installed also on Levibreton KG with 19 heads SG8 at work.
The head requires a 18,5 kW motor.
The head requires back pressure.
It is advisable to install 2 heads MIRAGE on the 2nd and 3rd position, respectively.
- The heads MIRAGE can’t be used on resin-treated slabs since they remove too much material.

Multibreton DXS - Multi-disc cross cutter for granite and marble

Multibreton DXS is an automatic cross cutter designed for cutting granite and marble slabs. It can be fitted with up to 7 indipendent 7.5 kW cutter groups, and as it operates in automatic, operator supervision is not required.

Spindle groups
Each spindle group has a drive power of 7.5 kW and travels on guides enclosed in an oil bath and protected against penetration of water by a labyrinth seal housing and are mounted to a spindle-holder beam configuration.  An incorporated  pneumatic system  raises  single spindle groups excluding them from the work cycle . Once the machine has cut the workpiece all the spindle groups are raised preventing  the diamond cutting discs from running over the cut slab.
The operator from the pushbutton control panel activates the servomotors which position each single spindle group in sequence along the beam. Once the spindle group has reached its correct working position a hydraulic-lock-system locks it in position.  The operator can control the servomotors from the display once cutting measurements and disc thickness have been programmed. Both effective and preset cutting measurements are displayed.
Spindle-holder beam
The spindle-holder beam is amply dimensioned and travels on rolling bearings coupled to toughened steel guides enclosed in an oil bath and protected against penetration of water by a labyrinth seal housing.
Beam travel speed can be adjusted  programming slower speeds when the discs approach the workpiece to be cut and start cutting and when they are raised after cutting operations have terminated.

Work Cycle

The Multibreton DXS work cycle is fully automatic and does not require the supervision of an operator:
1 - The slab to cut is positioned on a conveyor which travels on the workbench.   The conveyor  consists of a multilayer belt with a thick rubber coating ideal for resisting cuts caused by the diamond disc cutters when operating.
2 - The slab automatically stops when it reaches a concealed end stop.
3 - A motorised longitudinal  end stop maintains the slab aligned during cutting operations.
4 - Once cutting operations have terminated the discs are raised off the workpiece and then returned to their original position and the slab cut into tiles is discharged from the  machine and a new slab is fed in.

Water, electric and greasing systems

The systems as  water supply to each single spindle group, wiring and electrics are positioned at the rear of the machine for easy and quick access for maintenance or inspection purposes.
Nearly all machine travel components can be greased from just one easily accessible point.
A sealed housing encloses all machine electric and electronic control and command components.

Programming unit
The machine is PLC controlled.  The operator  from a simple-to-use  keypad provided with display mounted to the machine and located in a safe position and away from humidity, can program and control cutting parameters and settings.

Multibreton TRIM - Automatic trimming line for granite slabs

This line is engineered to offer high-speed machining and to be incorporated into a polishing line and is designed to work at the same speed as the polishing machines.
Both longitudinal and horizontal trimming operations are in a single run and ideal for slabs with a thickness up to 30 mm. The horizontal trimmer consists of two cutting spindles which work in succession along the same cutting run resulting in a substantial increase in cutting speed.
The two trimming systems are positioned in succession to one another, first the longitudinal and then the horizontal.
They work simultaneously guaranteeing high-speed operations which do not in any way condition or affect the speed of the polishing machine positioned downstream the line. The work cycle can be programmed and runs in automatic. The machines are fitted with a single control panel.

Longitudinal Trimmer
The MULTIBRETON TRIM L/2 mounts two spindles which remain in a fixed position and trim the slab as it is conveyed forwards on rollers. The spindles which travel along guides mounted to the cross-beam are positioned manually or as an optional accessory a motorised screw assembly can be fitted for spindle positioning operations.

An easy to use handwheel is provided to lock and release the spindle. As a further optional accessory a laser tracer system can be mounted allowing the operator to verify and trace cutting operations.

Discharge and stone shaving crusher (optional accessory)
This system consists of two rotating rams which crush the stone shavings, the waste material is collected in a collection hopper mounted on free-moving rollers which is then removed manually for emptying.  Upon specific request this collection hopper can be replaced with a motorised conveyor system to convey the waste shavings to a larger collection hopper located outside of the workplace.

Dual disc horizontal trimmer
The MULTIBRETON TRIM /T/2 consists of a carriage which mounts two cutting discs. This carriage moves perpendicularly in respect to the slab being conveyed.
A system of sensors relay information to the machine which stops the slab conveyor when the slab reaches the correct cutting position. Once each cutting operation is terminated, a pneumatic system raises the discs returning them to their original position and the slab is then conveyed forwards.
The disc carriage moves along guides which are enclosed in a labyrinth protective housing. The waste shavings simply fall into a collection hopper mounted on free-moving rollers positioned underneath (optional accessory) and which is manually removed for emptying.
Upon specific request this collection hopper can be replaced with a motorised conveyor system to convey the waste shavings to a larger collection hopper located outside of the workplace.

Programming of the trimming line
Programming and control of the trimming line are simple and user-friendly.The cutting spindles of the longitudinal trimmer are aligned manually according to the width of the pack of slabs to be trimmed. As an optional accessory two laser systems can be mounted over each spindle to facilitate positioning.
The slab moves under the two cutting spindles, is trimmed longitudinally and then advances at a high speed towards the horizontal trimmer. A system of contact limit-switches guarantees the correct positioning of the slab under the cutting spindles of the horizontal trimmer for processing both the leading and trailing edge of the slab.
If needed, the operator can reposition the slab under the spindles of the horizontal trimmer using the gearshift of the conveyor where the slab rests. When positioning is completed, the operator presses the “START” button to start cutting.

The TRIM machine in the polishing line
The TRIM machine is usually incorporated into the polishing line just before the polisher: this results in a double saving in abrasive stones and polishing time since slabs already squared are polished.
The trimming machines can cut granite slabs as thick as 5 cm and up to 3 cm thickness the trimming speed does not affect the polishing speed.
